About Rona Lee
Rona is a visual art educationist. She obtained her Bachelor of Education in Art and Design, The University of Wolverhampton U.K. in 1992 and retired as a lecturer in The Hong Kong Institute of Education in 1998 teaching mainly the print-making curriculum.
In 2015, she organized a wood block print workshop for the general public in the Tai Po Public Library (a joint activity of the Urban Council and SCHOOL OF CONTINUING & PROFESSIONAL STUDIES C.U.)
She is a committee member (Development) of the Hong Kong Graphics Society, running talks, demonstrations and workshops, 2013 print workshop – Hong Kong Architecture in co-operation with VAC and Artists in Residence Scheme 1998 funded by the ADC. She won the Outstanding Docent Award 2014 in the Hong Kong Museum of Art Docent Programme.
The themes of her work center round events and people in her daily life. She experiments on the possibility in the combination of the print disciplines especially intaglio and block print.
Artist Statement
Her artistic creation is a sum total of her past experience and travels. Recently she has the tendency of doing monotype and mixed media in print, painting and drawing, a breakthrough from the traditional to the innovative. She enjoys running short courses for young people.
