About Chan Chung Yan Iris
Iris has completed a Bachelor of Arts in Art and Design in Education, School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She has also completed a MA in Visual Cultural Studies, Chinese University of Hong Kong. Besides being an artist, she is also a Visual Art teacher. She had previously held her solo exhibition ‘New Organism Found’ in Sai Kung gallery, Hong Kong, 2012. Her artworks 'Fireworks and thunder' was selected in the Painting Section for 5th Arte Laguna Prize, Venice, 2010. The other artworks “8am” and “ 6pm” were selected for the Mobile Art Expedition Hong Kong, 2005.
Iris tears off the materials in random and makes some new forms. She loves using little things in her daily life to form new artworks. Those things many be her letters, photos, sketch, even the chocolate wrapping paper she loves. These things are meaningful to her. She gives these materials a second life.
